Companies across the globe and across the healthcare sector and sub-industries are also focused on personalized healthcare – 77% of survey respondents are seriously considering options or already creating personalized solutions. The top solution here is 3D printing, with 60% of companies who produce those types of solutions seriously considering their options. Additive manufacturing in healthcare can be a game-changer particularly in orthopedics. Up to 27% of hip surgery re-revisions are due to poor fixation and biomechanical reconstruction of the initial implant. Personalized, patient-specific implants manufactured with today’s additive manufacturing technology are dramatically improving revision rates, reducing hospital and post-acute care costs and generating consistently higher marks in patient satisfaction.
Experts across public health, microbiology здесь and biochemistry agree that we’ll still have antibiotics in 50 years, but the drugs may take a different form than those we have today. The novel coronavirus is hitting remote areas where patients are poorer, sicker, and older hard. Check out these videos to see how AAMC member institutions are using innovative approaches to integrating telehealth into medical education and training across UME, GME, and CME. This report from the AAMC’s Future of Academic Medicine Series will help health system leaders and telehealth managers to critically assess, design, implement, and integrate telehealth programs across mission areas. It presents effective strategies and successful practices from leaders at 15 AMCs that have leading telehealth programs.
It’s possible that the future of this technology may depend on artificial intelligence to automatically take action without a doctor’s intervention to preserve the organ for longer periods of time. For decades, biopsy was the only means of reliable diagnostics for cancer diseases, which involves tissue extraction for analysis. Modern methods of histopathology rely on digital scans of a specific area that can be affected by cell mutations. Using whole slide images or WSI, pathologists can examine much larger areas of human organisms at once. With the advances in deep learning and AI audio processing, analyzing human speech to catch early signs of dementia became possible. Put simply, a speech processing AI model can be trained to find the difference between speech features of a healthy person, and those who have dementia.

This complex system includes bones; joints; ligaments; tendons; muscles; and nerves; and allows you to move, work, and stay active. An ageing population, the rising burden of chronic disease, and growing multi-morbidity are all placing pressure on health systems across Europe. Across NYU Langone, NYU School of Medicine, and the greater NYU community, we empower internal innovators to leverage novel technologies, data science, and the principles of user-centered design, taking their ideas to wireframes and then live builds.
As a consequence of greater investment in health technology, fewer medical errors result. In addition, health technology-enabled healthcare organizations move away from outdated paper records to electronic health records. This resulted in greater patient empowerment and efficient documentation of medical history.

At the same time, many healthcare companies that would not necessarily have traditionally been considered tech companies have turned their attention to technology and its potential to transform the delivery of their products and services. Healthcare is another industry now facing shortages of chips, semiconductors and other electronic components necessary for digital health solutions. Partners who are well versed in these supply chains can assist healthcare companies overcome these new and unprecedented challenges as they enter the IoT space. Half of survey respondents said manufacturing partners could help navigate changing technology, supplier and regulation landscapes. A 2021 Accenture survey on consumer adoption of digital health found that 30% of respondents would be more likely to use digital technology to manage their health if they had more confidence in data security and privacy.
However, half of respondents agreed that digital healthcare solutions are often frustrating for consumers — from difficulties connecting devices to Wi-Fi to getting apps and hardware to “talk” with one another. More than nine in 10 respondents said digital healthcare should be standardized to enable interoperability between devices and within product platforms from various brands. The last few years have seen dramatic support from the FDA for addressing the accelerative nature at the heart of digital healthcare. Programs such as their Breakthrough Devices Program and the Digital Health Software Precertification (Pre-Cert) Program help speed up development, assessment and review. In 2011, PAHO and the member countries launched a Regional Network of Health Technology Assessments for the Americas (RedETSA). RedETSA is comprised of representatives from the ministries of health, regulatory agencies, HTA agencies, PAHO/WHO collaborating centers, and non-profit educational and research institutions dedicated to promote HTA to inform decision-making.

More than half of companies surveyed are at least in the development stage with their digital solutions, with 28% of them in the testing phase. We have mapped the entire Nordic region to find well-established examples of digital solutions that work. We do focus on solutions that have already been implemented and are being used within municipalities, county councils and regions in the Nordic countries. Welfare technology is all technology which in one way or another improves the lives of those who need it.
